We envision a society where every child has the resources and ability needed to attain and maintain academic success regardless of race, gender, class, or economic status.
To provide educational resources and advocacy for students of disadvantaged communities.
DJ Bling Foundation was founded in 2013 by Joseph "DJ Bling" Thompson and other artists/musicians to address a shortage of school supplies for students whose families couldn't afford enough supplies for the school year. As the years progressed, our organization has added various programs to address the lack of educational resources, health services, and family support in economically disadvantaged communities.
Our programs include or have included free school supplies, bike safety, technology access, academic counseling, performance opportunities, and the Family Advancement Mentoring and Education Center to address mental health and addiction issues.
Since 2013 DJ Bling Foundation has served over 12,000 students and their families living in Bastrop and Travis Counties and attending Bastrop, Austin, Pflugerville, Del Valle, and Round Rock school districts as well as various charter schools. Overall, DJ Bling Foundation has invested over $1.5 Million into our communities.
Joseph B. Thompson, formerly known as DJ Bling, has been an integral leader in the Austin community since 2008. Well-Known as a DJ, Entrepreneur, and Philanthropist Joseph has been instrumental in the success of many local and national young artists in the music industry. His belief in the importance of education led to the formation of DJ Bling Foundation in 2013 and he has made significant impacts in the lives of over 10,000 children and families in economically disadvantaged communities throughout Central Texas.
Joseph holds a Bachelors of Science in Music Business from Full Sail University, a Masters of Science in Divinity from Liberty University. Joseph is a licensed and ordained Pastor. He is also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2002 to 2007.
